Tell us what have the highlights been in your career with Asset Living?
“I have worked in the apartment industry for my whole career. What started as a job to enable me to move to Denver and attend art school ended up becoming my passion. The real turning point for me came when I realized that I could directly impact and influence the world around me every day. That passion developed over time by embracing challenges and obstacles and turning them into opportunities to make things better and to make a difference. I believe wholeheartedly that you can be whatever you want to be in the apartment industry. I love to mentor others, share my passion and convictions, and encourage them to be the best version of themselves every day.”
I’m sure you have a favorite project you’ve worked on – tell us about some of your greatest work memories or what has been the most rewarding part of your career overall?
“I truly love working with numbers and being able to use them in powerful ways to tell the story. Many times, the answers we need are right there in front of us – we just need to look at them and understand what they are telling us. Financial analysis, revenue management, marrying financial performance with operational metrics, and sharing those visions and passions with others has been very rewarding.”
What has been the best career advice or lessons you’ve learned throughout your career?
“I have had the pleasure of two great mentors in my career, one that was very people-centric and the other was very performance driven. The combined value of those shared experiences has been very impactful. We are in a profound people business with the need to drive performance. You cannot achieve one without the other. People always come first, they are the ones that drive the performance, if we miss the opportunity to engage others, we miss the opportunity to maximize performance and results.”
Lastly, which of our four-core values at Asset Living – drive, honesty, impact and family – resonates most with you personally and/or professionally?
“My favorite core value of Asset Living is drive. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of driving, it is an intentional mindset to make a difference, push the envelope, make things better, help others, and change the world.”
