Asset Living’s Bryanda Vega Shares Advice on #BecomingAnAsset

Understanding how to build a successful team starts with learning from those who have worked hard to develop and shape their career to become an integral part of the team. In the #BecomingAnAsset series, we ask Asset Living employees to share advice for those looking to grow personally and professionally – from turning challenges into opportunities for career development to persevering towards a promotion – our team members are full of quality advice that can help to guide anyone towards success. Today we are hearing from Bryanda Vega, Community Manager.

What is your background and experience in and what do you do within Asset Living

“While attending college in Northern California, I pursued a hospitality and event management degree. During this time, I was balancing college and a full-time job for a brand-new student housing property in Silicon Valley. During my time as a Community Assistant, I quickly niched in the field by providing hospitality and leading the social media and event coordinating that the property had to offer. I continued to grow in the field through promotions. I continued my career in property management by moving across the country and immersing myself in the Tallahassee Market, one of the most competitive student housing markets. As I approached graduation while finishing my degree online, I was ready to discover a new market that provided a work-life balance and, most importantly, the opportunity to learn and grow in the property management industry!

"This timing allowed me to move to Miami, FL, where Asset Living and the ownership group gave me countless growth opportunities. I took the role of Property Manager, and within my first year, our team led the University of Miami market by selling out within 30 days and exceeded performing numbers year over year by renewing at 50%. In addition, within a few months, our property increased our ORA score, earning us the highest-ranking reputation at the national level. Today our team continues to exceed operations performance while delivering hospitality and customer service year around."

What piece of advice would you give to a new employee who is #BecomingAnAsset?

"Embracing a flexible mindset and being receptive to knowledge, new roles, properties, and business travel are so important for fostering personal career growth. Expanding your connections beyond your property and colleagues will add to your community.”

What drives you to be the best team member possible

“Watching my team grow into their role and come across new career opportunities is by far the most rewarding part of leading the team. Providing the tools and creating an environment where everyone can explore their strengths and build on them individually. Finding that balance between mentoring and learning from and about your team members will create a great flow where the team works seamlessly together.”

What is your favorite memory from this year or within your career at Asset Living?

“A training conference hosted earlier this year in Houston, TX, where our corporate office is, has been my favorite memory with the company thus far. The group of managers that attended all created a strong bond during our time in Houston. Having weekly check-ins with one another and having a familiar face to look forward to at future conferences added to the sense of culture this company has.”

Lastly, what do you like to do outside of work in your free time?

“Work-life balance is essential in my daily life, and I constantly avoid waiting for the weekend to have a great day. Outside the office, I prioritize doing everyday things that make me feel the best version of myself. It can vary from taking myself on early morning walks with my dog and attending community events like sunrise yoga at the beach with friends.
