Asset Living’s Adam Mullen Shares Advice on #BecomingAnAsset

Understanding how to build a successful team starts with learning from those who have worked hard to develop and shape their career to become an integral part of the team. In the #BecomingAnAsset series, we ask Asset Living employees to share advice for those looking to grow personally and professionally – from turning challenges into opportunities for career development to persevering towards a promotion – our team members are full of quality advice that can help to guide anyone towards success. Today we are hearing from Adam Mullen, Community Manager.

What is your background and experience in and what do you do within Asset Living?

“My journey with Asset Living started three and a half years ago when Greg King hired me as a Leasing Manager during my final semester at Iowa State University. I was soon after promoted to General Manager. It was a bittersweet day when I got word that my property was on the market and later being sold back in March 2022. At the same time, navigating no longer being with Asset Living and being a first-time father to my son. Life has a way of working itself out when, later that month, I got a call from Greg King that a position had just opened in my market managed by Asset Living. I was beyond excited with the news and couldn't be happier to be back with my Asset Living Family.”

What piece of advice would you give to a new employee who is #BecomingAnAsset?

“Build relationships throughout the company! Networking and building connections with your colleagues are crucial. Engage in team-building activities, social events, and try to connect with people from different departments. Building a solid network within the company can provide invaluable support and open new opportunities. Embrace the Company Culture; Take the time to understand Asset Living's values and mission. Our culture makes us unique, and living by these principles will help you integrate smoothly into the team.”

What drives you to be the best team member possible?

“I am driven by excellence and take pride in delivering high-quality work. Whether it's a project, a task, or a simple assignment, I always strive to give my best effort.  Ultimately, the desire to make a difference drives me to be the best team member. I understand that my contributions, no matter how small, impact the team's success.”

What is your favorite memory from this year or within your career at Asset Living?

“I have made many memories with Asset Living within my career, but this last year has been one of the best, from leading a property rebrand, hitting 100% pre-lease with a 7.6% GPR growth, assisting in two due diligences in different states, representing Asset Living as an #AssetAmbassador and with property takeovers. I am so thankful to be a part of such a great team and excited to make many more memories in the future.”

Lastly, what do you like to do outside of work in your free time?

“Outside of work, my number #1 priority is my family, son Crew, and fiancé Bailey. We also have two Great Pyrenees and two cats. It's safe to say we have a packed household, but there is never a dull moment in our house!”
